About Me
I'm Kurtt Walton, a psychiatric nurse practitioner who believes that improving mental health starts with a trusting relationship between clinician and client
My wife and I made our home in Denver after living in several cities across the United States and then in Italy. These diverse experiences have given us a broad perspective on life, community, and culture.
During these periods I had the privilege of providing care in a wide range of clinical settings and roles, each one deepening my understanding of patients’ needs and strengthening my commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.
I’ve learned how to genuinely connect with people from all walks of life—regardless of class, age, ethnicity, culture, gender, or sexuality. I believe that equal respect for every individual is essential to growth, healing, and meaningful progress. This connection is at the heart of the art of nursing—a practice that goes beyond technical skill.
Nursing begins with understanding each person’s unique experience of health and illness, and then applying evidence-based care with finesse. This dual focus is part of what makes nursing distinct from other forms of healthcare—it’s grounded not only in science, but in human connection. It’s this combination that drew me to nursing and continues to guide my practice across every setting I’ve worked in.
If this is your first experience with mental health care, you may have questions about types of providers and how care is delivered. While psychologists typically focus on talk therapy, my role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner combines elements of therapy with a focus on medication management. I believe the most effective care is a combination of both approaches —therapy and medication working in tandem to support a person’s recovery and overall well-being.
